Pa (c) ket of (from) Knitpicks

Here is the content of the Knitpicks package, which was made in the last week before our door. In addition to my order still has a little extra (ropes) packed with pure. That was very nice - or a mistake. However it happened, I'm very happy about it: "Thank you Knitpicks . Then there are needles, stitch markers, long rope Amigurumi and a booklet. If the owl with the purple scarf not scream cute?
Here is the content of the packet Knitpicks, I received last week. In addition to my order I found a little extra (threads) in it, that was very kind - or a mistake. However, I'm happy about it: 'Thank you Knitpicks ' There are knitting needles, stitch marker, and a long threads Amigurumi Pattern booklet. Take a look at the owl with the purple scarf. Is not it cute?

Note the pink sweater top left and the very pink heavy wool. Anyone who knows me personally would seriously doubt now probably my sanity. Do not worry, the top is not for me but for our neighbor (small and very petite) that it had selected from the latest news from Knitpicks. The wool came together with the book "Fabulous Fair Isle Knitting" by Patty Knox, which was reduced by half. What is not surprising ...

Take a note of the pink vest above and the pinkish wool. People who know me in person must be worried that there's something wrong with my mental capacity. Do not worry, I want to knit the vest is not for me but for my friend and neighbor (a thin person) who had chosen it from the Knitpicks newsletter I've got recently. The wool came as a kit together with the book 'Fabulous Fair Isle Knitting "by Patty Knox, Which Was half price off by the way. No wonder ...

friend I can not take this book. It is not really a book with Fair Isle techniques, as here, neither knit in the round is still gesteekt. Not even socks or hats knit in the round but the author in rows and sew them together. Is that really you serious? Moreover, it is therefore somewhat stale. Na Oops, already quite old and came as "New Directions in Fair Isle Knitting" out. Only the sample chart I use for this book. Since I had also just be creative and take the pattern from the photo to which you can see, moreover, even better than the painted in the master directory. Ich versuche das mal umzutauschen. Mist, ich hab schon reingemalt, um das Muster besser erkennen zu können.

I can't recommend this book at all. It's not a Fair Isle book with fair isle methods you would expect by reading the title. Neither there's knitting around nor steeking. Not even socks or hats (!) have been knitted in rounds. Can you believe that? The author gives directions to knit them in rows and sew it together. Seriously?! Besides this it seems kind of old. Whoops, it IS old and had been published before as 'New directions in Fair Isle Knitting'. Only the chart I can use from the book. Why couldn't I have been more creativly and have taken it from the photo, which is much better to see than the chart in the book. I'll try to return it. Shoot, I already painted into it to see the chart better.

The Measure Jane Jameson

Mixed feelings - mixed feelings

struck on Wednesday I punctually at the Community Kitchen to assist in counting homeless people. Together with other volunteers, we have extensively about security issues (vorranging our own) behavior and communication (verbal / nonverbal) talking with homeless people informed. I initially had the jitters as we should have a brief interview about a very personal issue, and I was not sure whether I am sensitive to my knowledge of English would be enough. I therefore asked to detail what is said to introduce the best.

Wednesday I was at the community kitchen to assist with the count of homeless people. Together with other volunteers we were instructed about safety, communication (verbal/non verbal) and interaction with homeless people. At first I was quite worried if I could be sensitive enough with my english skills that are not perfect at all. We had to do a short interview about a personal theme and in some situations you need to have the 'right' words in your mind. That's why I asked what to say when I introduce myself and how I start the survey the best.

Unsere Volunteergruppe sollte obdachlose Menschen im Daycenter erreichen. Nicht alle sind obdachlos, manche wollen nur eine Mahlzeit und das ständige Kommen und Gehen makes it any easier. It was up to us to approach people and to seek dialogue. This was no easy task. People who suffer from such existential problems are not placed in understandably high spirits and conversation. It is definitely a huge difference if you help serve the meal or whether you are looking for direct conversation with someone who wants to talk might not. Nevertheless, you can bring with kindness, respect and a smile when dealing with anyone much. I had planned to help four hours, had left the Daycent but after two hours because I am after the other female volunteers had left, feeling a little unwell hatte. Ich wünschte, dass ich in dieser Situation einfach mehr Selbstbewusstsein gehabt hätte.

The volunteer group I belonged to should interview homeless people in the Community Kitchen's daycenter. Not all people there are homeless. A part of the people are only there to get something to eat. The continual coming and going didn't make things easier. It was our mission to get on to homeless to start the interview. It was not a piece of cake for me. When people are in great need they aren't in a happy mood and outgoing. Of course not. It is a big big difference to volunteer in the food service or interview someone who is in great need and probably doesn't want to talk with you about his/hers homelessness. I think (regarding conversations with anyone) you can achieve a lot just with kindness, respect and a smile. I intended to assist four hours but I left the daycenter after two hours because I felt a little bit uncomfortable after other female volunteers had left the place. In this situation I wished I would have been more self confident.
