Church Street Station New Year

Cumberland Trail

Signal Mountain, the second attempt, so to speak. After we lost the first time , we have chosen a different starting point on Sunday and another road leading to Rainbow Lake. We started at the "Signal Point" and took the Cumberland Trail South that was marked at a few trees and rocks with white paint. The weather was great for walking. We had to make, but on every single step, as our way of mostly Stones and roots, and it led some pretty deep went down. The path was generally very well marked. But you have to come to Rainbow Lake, just continue to run before (!) Of the second suspension bridge to the right on a river. After the bridge marks the beginning of Cumberland Trail North , a 6-mile path that for "serious" (mountain) is recommended hikers. Our way, however, was only 1.3 miles long, serious enough for a trip on a Sunday afternoon. It was great fun and everyone got home safely: D

Hiking on Signal Mountain - the second try. After we got lost the first time we went hiking we've now picked out another point to start and another trail to Rainbow Lake. We started at "Signal Point" and took the Cumberland Trail South , wich was marked with white color on several trees and rocks. It was the perfect hiking weather. We had to be very careful with almost every step we did because of all the roots and rocks at the trail. From time to time the depth beside the small trail was a little bit scary. The trail was marked very well so we did not lost our way. However, to find the Rainbow Lake you have to turn right in front (!) Of the second swinging bridge. Behind the swingingbridge the Cumberland Trail North start that is a 6 miles trail recommended for "serious" walkers. In my opinion our 1.3 miles trail was serious enough for a sunday afternoon trip. We had a lot of fun and everybody got back home safely: D
